For those who may not be aware of the "latest and greatest" here, we got our temporary license to do foster care this past Wednesday!
We began the process of getting into foster care the beginning of this year. We started the 10 week MAPP class the first week of January and ended the middle of March. Throughout the time we were in the class, we had the licensing specialist come in and inspect our home to be sure it was up to code for state licensing.
Most people who take the class, have the final inspection within 30 days of the class ending. Thankfully, and I really feel that God had His hand in this, we had our final inspection the same day as our final class!
After the final inspection takes place, all the paperwork is then sent to the headquarters in Topeka for further inspection, background checks, etc. Our licensing specialist sent off the paperwork to headquarters the middle of last week.
We got a letter in the mail on Monday confirming that headquarters had received our paperwork and that it would take about 60-90 days to receive our temporary foster care license.
Wednesday morning, I got a call from our caseworker that we had been approved and that we had received our temporary license (in just 3 days, versus 60-90!).
We have an appointment scheduled to meet with our caseworker on Monday afternoon to discuss the details and get to know her a little better.
In the meantime, if they have a placement, we are approved to take them anytime!
We are keeping our phones on 24/7...just waiting on the call!
We have been praying that God would really orchestrate this whole process and that He would send the right children into our home in His perfect timing! We couldn't be happier with the progress that has been made in such a short time. We can't help but feel that God is really working out all these little details...in a really quick way!
We would really appreciate your prayers as we begin this journey!
Blessings,
Sharonna
