We are just learning how to adjust from it being just the two of us to having a brand new baby in the house! There are a LOT of changes that come along with this! I guess I knew that things wouldn't be the same...but I guess I didn't realize just how much would change!
Change is a good thing. Change stretches us.
God uses change to mold us into what He wants us to be!
Since I'm a list type of person, here are a few things that I've learned in the past week and a half:
- Sleep is a rare find. When they say "nap when the baby naps," you should likely take their advice! Otherwise, you'll never get any sleep!
- If you don't sleep when the baby is sleeping, use that time to do a load of laundry, load up the dishwasher, clean a bathroom, something... When baby is awake, she will demand a lot of time and attention!
- Buy (or borrow) a sling/baby carrier. Seriously, I don't know what I'd do without it!
- Swaddling is a lifesaver!! (Check out a video here on how to do it!) The first night was really rough. The second night, I swaddled her and she was only up twice! Now, she is only up once or twice per night!
- Learning a baby's cry and what that means will make life SOO much easier! (Click here to watch a video on how to distinguish the cries and what each means.)
- If you come to my house right now, likely the only music you will hear is lullabies and classical music! These make life so much easier! :)
- You will do a LOT of laundry...for baby AND yourself!! When baby throws up, don't get upset. Take a deep breath and change the clothes!
- The house won't always be clean. That's okay. Some things are more important.
- Shopping just got a lot more complicated! There is no longer any such thing as "I'll just run in really quick and grab two things." I think it now takes longer to get baby girl strapped in the car seat and then in and out of the car than it does to actually do the shopping! Ha!
- I never knew I could love something so much, that I’d give up my own life for.
- I'm an awesome mom! :)
