Today is that day.
I was checking out my Facebook timeline for all those wonderful "memories" of yesteryears (and you realize how much can change in a year! Ha!)... I found a recipe that I posted last year for a Ranch Dressing. Me, thinking of all the money I would save by making my own Ranch Dressing, decided to give it a whirl. Sure, why not?! Who could mess up Ranch Dressing?! (Apparently, I know now that I can! Ha!)
I decided to just copy and paste the recipe into a document so that I could just go in the kitchen and mix up a batch for a salad for lunch. Yum! Since we eat salads on a regular basis, I thought maybe this recipe would be one to be put in the file as a favorite!
The recipe called for 1/4 cup of black pepper, 1 1/2 cup of parsley, 1/2 cup garlic salt, 2 tablespoons of kosher salt, 1/4 cup of granulated garlic, 3/4 cup of granulated onion and 2 tablespoons of dill weed.
Well...MOST people would say "hey, that must be something you mix together and just add a couple tablespoons to some buttermilk and mayo." Not me! Haha!
I proceeded to add 2 cups of buttermilk, 2 cups of mayo, 1 1/2 cup of sour cream and a teaspoon of lemon juice.
Hmm....well, this recipe is supposed to be really good...let's have a taste!
.....EWWWWW! What in the world?! This is disgusting.... You could smell onion and garlic on my breath for miles around! Good grief!
Thinking that maybe I should take a second look (not at what I had printed as I had failed to copy off the recipe in its entirety...) on the exact recipe posted, I discovered that you mix all the dry ingredients in a container and use TWO TABLESPOONS AT A TIME!
I now have a large container of very potent (concentrated?!) Ranch Dressing sitting in my fridge...waiting for a trip to the grocery store for more mayo and buttermilk to try and salvage.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this stuff? Please!
...or maybe it's just "mommy of 5 little ones" brain?
In any case, I think I'm headed up to brush my teeth (AGAIN!) and try to freshen up this breath! Ha!
Happy Tuesday!
Blessings,
Sharonna
